For a circular and sustainable textile sector

Thanks to the support of the French Ministry for the Environment, Climate and Biodiversity, Lët'z Refashion, the space for circular, ethical and local fashion, is strengthening its role as a driving force for change.

On Thursday 25 September, the Minister for the Environment, Climate and Biodiversity, Serge Wilmes, and the head of HUT - Hëllef um Terrain, Philippe Schrantz, met at Lët'z Refashion to formalise their partnership. The cooperation agreement now binding the two partners provides not only for the continuation of Lët'z Refashion's mission, but also for its reinforcement, particularly in its awareness-raising activities aimed at key audiences such as young people, local authorities and businesses. In the face of urgent environmental and social issues, we need to step up our efforts.

As a reminder, Lët'z Refashion's mission is to provide information on the environmental and social challenges facing the textile industry, to offer a place for everyone to develop their sewing skills and to promote Slow Fashion, in particular by offering local entrepreneurs and designers a free space to exhibit their creations. Various activities such as clothing swaps, exhibitions, workshops, etc. will be organised. repairs cafés and sewing workshops. Of course, people can also find upcycled, recycled and second-hand clothes and accessories. The aim is to change consumer behaviour and move towards a sustainable and circular textile sector in Luxembourg.

The two partners are also involved in the LUI - Luxembourg Upcycling Initiative project, which aims to give a second life to unused work uniforms. These creations will be produced by a workshop set up to promote the professional integration of people who are far removed from the mainstream labour market. In addition, a joint study by the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) shows that upcycling reduces the environmental impact of new products by an average of 87%. This project is a positive and innovative initiative, demonstrating that the ecological transition can be a vehicle for social cohesion. Both partners are delighted with this collaboration, which proves that taking action for the environment can also strengthen social ties. More ethical and responsible modes of consumption are not only possible, they are necessary. They invite everyone to become actively involved in this transition.
