The transport of the future is that which does not take place

The two founders and friends, Armin Neises and Matthias Brinkert, set about realising their idea in 2019. They asked themselves where they could save the most CO2 emissions. The answer: in industry. And through transparency. So they created a platform to help companies make their impact on the climate more transparent. Because only those who know how much CO2 their company is emitting can find ways of reducing it. This year, Waves was awarded the Solar Impulse Efficient Solution label by the famous explorer and environmentalist Bertrand Piccard, as well as the title of «Cloud Tech Innovator of the Year». But these prestigious awards are useless if there are no customers using their platform. Many large companies still haven't thought of solutions to reduce their CO2 emissions in the near future.

What are the significant figures that companies should make public?

The carbon footprint! This is calculated using concrete figures. And it shows whether a product is really climate-friendly or not.

How do you see the future of the logistics sector?

The transport of the future is the transport that doesn't happen. We need to buy from local producers to avoid a global supply chain. The transport of the future will also be dematerialised. Products will be sent as digital data and manufactured on the spot using a 3D printer, for example, representing a huge benefit for the climate. Just think of the negative impact of congestion in the Suez Canal in the spring of 2021.
