Using solar energy as efficiently as possible with an installation on your own roof! This is the subject that has fascinated John Schammel for 35 years, and was the subject of part of his university dissertation.
«Solar energy not only powers the usual energy-hungry household appliances, but also the heat pump and the charging point for my electric car. On less sunny days, a battery that can store up to 22 kWh of energy takes over. This is enough to supply the house with sustainable energy for a few days. Any surplus is fed into the grid. I rarely have to buy electricity.»

In the same spirit, Mr Schammel also considered the question of the right electric car: «You don't buy an electric car on a whim. You have to consider things like weight, fuel consumption and the environmental balance of the life cycle.»
