As of 15 November 2024, The Luxembourg Government Council has approved the draft strategy for adapting to the effects of climate change. The aim of this project is to prepare Luxembourg for the inevitable effects of climate change, to increase its resilience and to reduce its vulnerability to the consequences of this change.
As part of this approach, the Ministry for the Environment, Climate and Biodiversity, in collaboration with the ministries concerned, is proposing 131 concrete measures in 16 policy areas. In order to refine the proposed measures, the government has approved the organisation of a public consultation, during which thematic workshops bringing together players from the private and public sectors are being organised.
The Ministry of the Environment, Climate and Biodiversity is organising these workshops in collaboration with : CELL (Citizens for Ecological Learning & Living), EBL (Ëmweltberodung Lëtzebuerg), IMS Luxembourg (Inspiring More Sustainability Luxembourg) and Klima-Bündnis Lëtzebuerg.
These organisations oversee the thematic workshops, the aim of which is to create forums for reflection and discussion. The results of the workshops are compiled by the partner organisations and forwarded to the respective ministries for incorporation into the adaptation strategy.
The public consultation will run online from 2 April to 14 May and is open to all. At the same time, five workshops will be held.
