HRH the Grand Duke and Serge Wilmes at the World Climate Action Summit (2023)

From 1 to 2 December, HRH the Grand Duke, accompanied by the Minister for the Environment, Climate and Biodiversity, Serge Wilmes, will travel to Dubai to represent Luxembourg at the World Climate Action Summit. This summit is taking place at the invitation of the host country, the United Arab Emirates, on the sidelines of COP28 of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, which is considered to be the world's largest climate action conference.

In addition to attending the high-level climate summit, HRH the Grand Duke and the Minister for the Environment, Climate and Biodiversity will take the opportunity to meet with civil society players and visit the pavilions of Luxembourg's main partners in climate action. Minister Serge Wilmes will also take part in the launch of the Climate Club, of which Luxembourg is a leading supporter. The Climate Club, initiated by the G7 in December 2022 and chaired by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Chilean President Gabriel Boric, aims to accelerate the decarbonisation of global industry in line with the objectives of the Paris Agreement, starting with steel and cement.
