Méi Natur an eise Stied an Dierfer« call for projects»

Following the success of the previous calls for projects under the «Méi Natur an eise Stied an Dierfer» campaign in 2022 and 2023, which rewarded a total of 12 municipalities with a total budget of €4 million to demineralise sealed surfaces in order to give more space to green infrastructure, the Ministry of the Environment, Climate and Biodiversity is extending this campaign for its 3rd year.e edition.

Given the extreme climatic events that Luxembourg has to deal with, such as floods and heat waves, and the need to take action, the third edition of the call for projects provides for several categories of action to support the exemplary role of municipalities:

  • Demineralisation and greening of public squares
  • Demineralisation and greening of school grounds
  • Demineralisation and greening of public car parks
  • Greening public play areas

This will give local authorities more scope to put in place concrete measures to adapt to the inevitable effects of climate change, so that they can better protect the population while creating greener, more pleasant urban and village centres. With the help of nature-based measures, as well as the demineralisation and vegetalisation of these spaces, the projects will make it possible to increase the resilience of urban environments to heatwaves and improve and increase the well-being of the population.

To ensure the success and acceptance of projects, the active participation of the stakeholders is essential.

The «Méi Natur an eise Stied an Dierfer» call for projects (3e edition) is aimed at local authorities, which can submit a preliminary project until 30 June 2025. The best projects will be selected by a jury and may be co-financed up to €500,000 per project via the Climate and Energy Fund of the French Ministry for the Environment, Climate and Biodiversity. For the «greening of public play areas» section, the grant may not exceed €250,000.

Applications must be submitted by 30 June 2025 at the latest to the Ministry of the Environment, Climate and Biodiversity by e-mail to the following address: verdissement@mev.etat.lu.
